Jamel Kimbrough was born into a religious family as the oldest son of a minister and evangelist mother growing up in a small suburban town south of Chicago, Illinois. He began to show an interest and a heart’s desire for music at a very early age. Music is in Jamel’s genes coming from a family of musicians, singers, writers, and composers. Jamel Kimbrough has become a very prominent producer in the music industry. From the widest spectrum of Hip-Hop/R&B and Neosoul to Inspirational and Gospel music, Jamel continues to offer cutting edge technology and intuitiveness to all of his artists. Jamel operates a pro-gear recording studio with state-of-the-art technology. He is fluent with industry standard recording gear and software such as Pro-Tools HD, Logic Studio, Steinberg Nuendo, Reasons, and a host of other recording software and consoles. Since 2003 Jamel Kimbrough has been the CEO of Keyemup Productions/Keyemup Music and has maintained a repertoire in the industry with numerous artists such as Lupe Fiasco, No ID, and Ghotti (Herb Brasco). Jamel recently held the position as music director for a band that toured various parts of the United States and abroad. Jamel has also had the opportunity to work alongside Johnetta Patton of JPat Records, Atlanta, GA (mother/mgr to Usher Raymond.) In 2005 he was hired as band director for the Chicagoland hit stage play entitled “Worked It Out” starring Malik Yoba and Diane Williams of Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer. Jamel has harmoniously shared the stage with former Bad Boy recording artist Carl Thomas, Tye Tribbett, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Jesse Campbell, Kevin Gray, Men At Large, and produced albums for a host of local unsigned artists. Jamel at present is the Music & Worship Arts Director for A Place of Change in Aurora, Illinois and also lends his musical expertise and production abilities to the Christian network of TBN. In addition, Jamel is also one of the executive music producers for GoldStreet Gospel Records.
